PIAM is a training course aimed at frontline workers who may encounter aggression, assault, and challenging behaviours expecilally within NHS enviroment. 

Objectives include providing knowledge on causes of aggression, communication models, warning signs, use of reasonable force, intervention methods, health/safety issues, restrictive interventions, ethical- legal issues, record-keeping, and implementation of holds/skills. 

The purpose of PIAM is to train frontline staff on recognising, understanding, and appropriately intervening in aggressive or challenging behaviours, using suitable communication models and restrictive intervention methods, within proper ethical, legal, and regulatory frameworks.
